Inventory Specialist

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to forecast inventory needs.
    • Manage ordering, tracking, and replenishment of materials.
    • Conduct cost analysis to obtain the best pricing and rates.
    • Optimize inventory levels to meet production and operational requirements.
    • Monitor inventory trends and develop strategies for reducing excess stock and minimizing shortages.
  • Inventory Control:
    • Manage daily inventory operations and ensure accuracy in all inventory records.
    • Implement inventory control processes and best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Forecasting and Planning:
    • Assist in forecasting future inventory needs based on historical data and trends.
    • Participate in planning related to inventory purchases and storage.
  • Reporting:
    • Utilize inventory management software to track stock levels and generate reports.
    • Prepare and analyze reports to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Auditing and Accuracy:
    • Conduct regular inventory counts and cycle counts.
    • Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies through audits.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of inventory transactions and product movements.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all operational activities.
  • Other:
    • Assist in issuing and receiving purchase orders when required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • A post-secondary education in business, logistics, supply chain management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an inventory specialist or in a similar role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices such as JIT, safety stock, reorder points, and first-in, first-out.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
