The Machine Operator will be responsible for the setup, safe operation, and routine maintenance of an automatic vertical bandsaw used to cut steel tubing and related materials to specified dimensions. This role requires a strong attention to detail, precision, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure all components meet quality standards and specifications.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Machine Setup and Operation:
  • Set up and safely operate an automatic vertical bandsaw
  • Cut steel tubing and metal components to precise lengths and specifications (size range from 1 inch to 20 inch diameter)
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and cutting instructions
  • Accurately measure and verify parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, measuring tape, etc.)
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on saw equipment
  • Operate an overhead bridge crane to load and unload material (training provided)
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

• Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor and report the condition of tools, fixtures, and machines to ensure proper functioning and optimal production
  • Perform quality inspections of finished parts to verify compliance with specifications
  • Document and report any deviations from specifications or tolerances
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gages) to verify part dimensions

• Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all operational activities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing basic housekeeping duties

• Other:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating industrial machinery (bandsaw experience preferred)
• Previous experience cutting steel or metal materials is an asset
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, charts, and tables
• Ability lift, push, pull, or carry 30 – 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, squat and climb throughout the shift
• Familiarity with material handling equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
